The Brief
George Mewes is one of Scotland’s artisan cheesemongers. With two shops, one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow, they have been treating Scots to specialist cheeses from all over the world for years.
George Mewes came to us as they felt their site didn’t reflect the quality of their product or their printed material. They, also, said that they didn’t sell enough products through their online shop, either.
The Solution
The first step was to redesign the site based on their printed marketing (which combined deep colours with classic sans-serif fonts) and to make their photography more prominent. After all, the first bite is with your eye.
The next stage was to improve the customer’s online shopping experience. We did this by:
- Recategorising the products into relevant sections for users
- Adding fewer steps for customers to check out and pay
- Linking the site to GoCardless so people can pay via direct debit for monthly cheese boxes
This made the site simpler for users to shop.
The Outcome
By reworking the George Mewes site design and user experience, we created a website that mirrors their luxury products and brand. We, also, got to eat lots of cheese, too. Yum.
